Vía Künig – French Way through Lugo

About This Project

The Vía Künig is a medieval variant of the French Way through the city of Lugo, documented in a guide for pilgrims written by the German monk Hermann Künig in the fifteenth century.

This medieval road, whose itinerary coincides with the Roman road XIX and the Camino Real de Carlos III, is in a process of research. Thanks to the collaboration between the municipalities through which the Künig Way passes in Galicia (As Nogais, Becerreá, Baralla, O Corgo and Lugo) and thanks to all the people who have investigated in recent years about this itinerary, it has been possible to present this promotional video in Fitur 2019 and the following leaflet, as a first step to promote this pilgrimage route of great natural and cultural wealth. And I am delighted to participate in this beautiful project to recover part of our history forgotten for centuries.

Buen Camino to the research project of the Via Künig!
